Using the Bern model, this building was developed in cooperation with senior doctors and nursing staff to meet the requirements for a neurosurgery operation centre. This design is based on the concept of placing induction centrally in order to enable compression of the anaesthetist’s work and then reach the various operating theatres quickly.

In Günzburg the four operating theatres are grouped around a common, central distribution zone with short distances for the staff. The scrub rooms are grouped in a washing area. The sterile materials area is located at the rear of the operating theatres with direct access to the sterile goods storage. Quick access to sterile materials and distribution to other operating units also takes place here. The adjacent sterilisation department, with preparation, sterile materials processing and the packing zone, is in the southern part of the building.

The façade is characterised by views that make orientation easier and enable a connection to the surrounding, almost park-like landscape.
