First place in the pitch!

We are delighted to have won first place in the two-stage competition for the new laboratory and research building for the non-profit research organisation TRON in Mainz!

TRON stands for “Translational Oncology” and is a biopharmaceutical research institute. It is the spin-off of BioNTech founders Uğur Şahin & Özlem Türeci together with Christoph Huber, the Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz, the University Medicine Mainz and the state of Rhineland-Palatinate. In cooperation with BioNTech, research is conducted here in the field of immune-based therapies such as RNA vaccines and cell therapies.

The new TRON gGmbH building is to be built on the corner of Obere Zahlbacher Straße and Am Römerlager. It will be located there with the possibility of future expansion and in the immediate vicinity of the University Medical Centre and its patients as well as other planned research buildings on the campus.

The building will have 10,800 square metres of usable space on six floors, divided into laboratories, offices and communication areas. A filigree glass facade will create a high level of light penetration for an optimal working atmosphere.

According to Rhineland-Palatinate’s Minister of Science, Clemens Hoch, this new location will not only be used for research, but also as an attractive centre for the education and training of international doctoral students.

We are pleased to be able to contribute to the continuation of the amazing success story around BioNTech with this project!
