Dalian Second People’s Hospital – garden-like hospital – first place in the competition
We are delighted to have won first place in the competition for the design and preliminary planning of the Dalian Second People’s Hospital! Nickl & Partner participated in the tender as a consultant of the Urban Development Design Group and was selected as the first winner among many competitors.
The project is located on the south side of Yushan Road and the west side of Yurnong Street in the Ganjingzi district of Dalian. The building area is 105,200 square metres, with plans for 19 additional departments and 560 beds. The project was designed with the aim of building a “garden-like medical hospital”. While maintaining the historic architectural style, the project has created a unique garden-like hospital by enriching the green spaces around the building and within the building itself.
The design incorporates the surroundings with a roof garden. This allows patients to enjoy a pleasant view of nature and ecology while meeting the conditions for natural light and ventilation. In addition, the terrace garden increases the amount of light in the building.
The road network around the hospital is relatively complete, with Yurnong Road running east-west within the 15-minute residential circle and the roads being secondary roads or higher. The road network has high density and good road capacity, which can better serve the traffic demand of the surrounding areas.
