2016 AKG Award for Outstanding Healthcare Buildings
We are delighted to announce that our
Kaiser-Franz-Josef Hospital, Vienna
project has received a 2016 Award for Outstanding Healthcare Buildings from the AKG (Association of Hospital Building and Healthcare Architects / Architekten von Krankenhausbau und Gesundheitswesen e.V.) jury.
The second round of AKG awards is intended to raise public awareness of the importance of contemporary architecture in this special field and highlight the AKG’s goals of safeguarding, securing and promoting the quality of current and future construction projects.
With this award, the AKG recognizes outstanding contributions to the architecture of hospital buildings or healthcare that exhibit exemplary solutions to the diverse requirements for building quality, functionality and attention to detail. The AKG award is given to both the architect and owner of of a prize-winning building selected by an independent jury.
The jury, chaired by Stuttgart architect Prof. Dipl.-Ing. Jórunn Ragnarsdóttir, consisted of:
Gabriele Kirchner, managing director, Association of German Hospital Directors (Verband der Krankenhausdirektoren Deutschlands), Berlin
Prof. Falk Jaeger, architecture critic, Berlin
Prof. Jan Kleihues, architect, Association of German Architects (BDA), Berlin
Prof. Volker Staab, architect, Association of German Architects (BDA), Berlin
Prof. Ludwig Wappner, Association of German Architects (BDA), Munich
A total of 22 projects were submitted.
