‘Healing Architecture’ explores how architecture can support healing and recovery, and how both the built and natural environment can help people stay healthy. The publication focuses on the conception and design of spaces for hospitals and other healthcare buildings, as well as on how these environments are perceived and how they influence people’s experience of illness.
To approach the subject from an interdisciplinary perspective and explore it from as many angles as possible, the publication brings together architects, medical professionals, economists, artists, urban planners and communication scholars. Their contributions examine different dimensions of healing environments – from atmosphere and orientation to functional processes and broader social and cultural contexts.
