Every building has its own history. The history of the Lindberghatelier began at the end of the 1990s when the architect couple Nickl dreamt of a studio building – an experimental theatre. A suitable plot of land in a new development area was found by chance and purchased without further ado. After rapid planning, a cube was created as an elevated prefabricated concrete building with modern technology on two storeys that were perfectly suited for the extremely successful work of Nickl & Partner Architekten. The studio is a clear cube whose entrance side leans on Lindberghstrasse from where it appears virtually to float as it extends into the “landscape”. A multi-layered shell around this body, with its brusque, industrial character, strikes a balance between separation and individual openness.
Hans Nickl: “We fulfilled our dream and built our own studio. Modest, in an unpretentious commercial area.”
In 2016, a completely glazed storey was added to the building and two beautiful roof terraces were created on the north and south sides. Since then, the various teams have been living and working in new working environments with open floor plans that offer both common areas and quiet zones in the form of small cubes for individual communication.
We celebrate our Lindberghatelier because it is so timeless and still modern.
