Ostfalia University of Applied Sciences Laboratory for Automotive Engineering

The new laboratory building of the Faculty of Automotive Engineering presents itself as a simple, monolithic cube at the southern entrance to the craftsmen’s quarter. It blends clearly into the urban context and at the same time forms the prelude to a contemporary, inner-city quarter.

The central design concept is the development of a compact structure that meets both the functional and design requirements of an innovative research building.

The interior of the building has a clear structure. The entrance hall is transparent and open in design, in keeping with its public use. The test hall forms the core of the laboratory building. All associated laboratories and service rooms are grouped around the hall.

Workshop and laboratory modules, as well as galleries, can be arranged flexibly within the hall. To promote communication, there is also direct eye contact with the test hall from the upper floors.
