The Roche Innovation Center Penzberg (LEAP) is a new research building on the Roche campus that will serve as a catalyst for innovation and sustainability. The new building will bring together around 800 researchers from 28 buildings in a central, future-oriented working environment.
Two structures – laboratories in the east, offices in the west – are connected by a 33-metre-high, light-flooded atrium that promotes exchange, transparency and identity: an architectural stage for encounters and spontaneous interaction. Open bridges, plant islands and visual connections create an architectural landscape of communication. While the office building with its visible timber construction radiates warmth and openness, the laboratory wing with its precise reinforced concrete skeleton stands for technical excellence.

Photovoltaics, green roofs, and intelligent building control systems reduce CO₂ emissions by two-thirds. LEAP combines modularity, sustainability, and humanity – a research architecture that understands science as a collective process and makes the dialogue between technology, nature, and society visible.
