On September 29, 2025, the topping-out ceremony for the “Neues Hauner” was held in collaboration with LMU University Hospital, representatives of the Medical Faculty, political dignitaries, and all project partners.
It marked a major milestone: the structural framework is now complete, and our architectural vision of a child-friendly, modern, and healing-focused hospital is taking tangible shape.
The pediatric center opens up an inspiring world: green courtyards and uniquely designed island spaces structure the building into clearly defined zones. These elements provide orientation, a sense of security, and bright, welcoming environments where patients, families, and staff feel safe and supported. From the moment one steps inside, fears and anxieties surrounding hospitalization begin to ease—leaving a lasting impression of positivity and trust.
The “Neues Hauner” integrates harmoniously into the park landscape of the Großhadern campus. Its compact design enables short distances between functional areas, fosters interdisciplinary collaboration, and allows access to outdoor spaces without needing to leave the building. The central foyer also offers direct access to the patient garden, further enriching the healing environment.
During the celebration, Prof. Dr. Markus M. Lerch, Medical Director of LMU University Hospital, emphasized:
“Together with everyone who supports us, we will create an outstanding clinic for our young patients—a place where parents and siblings can also play an active role in the healing process.”
His statement reflects the seamless integration of medical excellence and human compassion that lies at the heart of this project.
