competitionline reports on the outcome of the competition for the new BG Klinikum Hamburg. Nickl & Partner’s design was awarded 2nd prize. The concept combines the complex medical and functional requirements of a highly specialised hospital with a clear architectural structure.
Short distances, intuitive wayfinding and a high quality of stay for patients, staff and visitors are central to the design. A close connection between interior and exterior spaces further supports the aim of creating contemporary, human-centred healthcare architecture.
