Prof. Hans Nickl is an architect and the founder of Nickl & Partner. He established his practice in 1979, initially focusing on healthcare architecture and laying a foundation for a design philosophy centered on human needs. Together with Christine Nickl-Weller, he developed the practice into an internationally recognised firm specialising in healthcare, research, and educational buildings. His work is characterised by a holistic understanding of architecture that combines functional, social, and spatial qualities while responding with particular sensitivity to people in vulnerable or demanding circumstances. In 1992, he was appointed Professor of “Constructive Design” at Erfurt University of Applied Sciences and served as a visiting professor at TU Berlin from 2004 to 2017. Hans Nickl studied architecture at the Technical University of Munich.
