New construction of the German Embassy in Ouagadougou

The new German Embassy building in Ouagadougou comprises a spacious complex consisting of offices, residences, staff apartments, and security areas. In addition to functional requirements, the focus is on designing a secure, climate-adapted, and representative embassy complex.

Location: Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso

Realization: in planning
Client: Federal Republic of Germany, represented by the Federal Ministry of the Interior, Building and Community,

represented by the Regional Finance Office Karlsruhe, Federal Construction Department BL,

represented by the State Building Authority Stuttgart

The project involves the construction of several building complexes, including two external guardhouses with vehicle and pedestrian gates, the administrative office building with visa office, the residence with official and private areas, and technical and infrastructure facilities.

The sustainable planning concept takes into account energy efficiency, local building materials, and a clear functional structure. The result is a message that represents both German building culture and diplomatic presence in Burkina Faso.

This is complemented by landscaped outdoor areas with paths, parking spaces, and green zones that underscore the diplomatic character of the ensemble. Particular attention has been paid to integrating climate-adapted architecture and complying with international security guidelines.
