New construction of the Baden Cantonal Hospital

The new building for the Baden Agnes Cantonal Hospital marks a forward-looking decision: a new building that not only offers 30% more space, but also defines the hospital as a vibrant, integral part of urban life.

With around 76,215 m² of floor space, the modern building with single and twin rooms creates a healing environment controlled by digital Building Information Modeling (BIM) and IoT sensor technology.

Location: Baden, Switzerland

Eleven green courtyards, clear room sequences, and generous window areas allow light and nature to play a central role. The silver fir wood from the Baden city forest creates a sense of closeness and familiarity, while the structure of the building offers openness and orientation.

With fully digital planning based on BIM, over 7,000 sensors, and an energy concept combining geothermal energy and wood chips, the KSB represents a transformation in healthcare construction and forms a learning system that not only enables healing but actively shapes it.
