Nickl & Partner Architekten AG

Nickl & Partner Architekten AG received a visit from a delegation of high-ranking Chinese health experts on 30 October. It was led by Wang Yuxun, acting General Director of the National Health and Family Planning Commission in the People’s Republic of China. Hieronimus Nickl and Oliver Zimmermann welcomed the guests.

The delegation members discussed the findings of a study entitled Green Hospital in a round table conversation with two Nickl & Partner representatives. It deals with an approach to evaluation of sustainability in German hospitals and the issue of the extent to which it could be adopted in China. The two architects presented their current and completed projects in China, such as the children’s clinic in Shenyang and the Yinkou hospital. The visitors were particularly interested in the differences and challenges of hospital construction in Germany and Europe in comparison to China.

The trip was organised by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), which implements worldwide projects aimed at sustainable development on behalf of the German Federal Government. For over 25 years GIZ has been active in China, where it has carried out 49 projects so far. The information gathering tour took place as part of the Energy Efficiency in Public Buildings (Schools and Hospitals) project.
